Walking in the Rain
A collection of threads to pull on
Walking exercises the mind as well as the body. 12 kilometers across 2.5 hours. Golden Gate Park. My first time seeing the California Academy of Sciences.
Walking, galloping, strolling, waltzing.
A clichΓ© I often return to: to be known is to be loved. To be witnessed and accepted. A desire to be understood.
Conflict and friction. Pushing against something is where we define our boundaries. Amorphous form: this is a lack of self-knowledge. Spinelessness? Lack of conviction. What are you willing to fight for? Conflict presents opportunities to continually redefine the shape of our being.
Proposal: "Criticism is the only way we grow."
Power and comfort. Wielding power makes those around you uncomfortable.
Forgiveness without acknowledging the past wrong means nothing. What is there to forgive?
Living and creating in service of others.
Reflect on how things have changed. The best decisions are often the ones you couldn't have predicted.
Brain drain. Don't drain? Maybe draining is the answer.
Reconnecting with people from past seasons: your walks have diverged, and for a few hours, you reopen the time capsules you keep of each other.
Finding your person is to bear mutual witness to the thousand deaths and thousand rebirths you'll each experience.
Next chapter: deep immersion, diligent study, inspired creation.
Relationships grounded in peace are ones that endure. A steady homeostasis, kind and persistent love.
We perceive what we focus our attention upon.
Note to self: wear running shoes next time.
